Marudi


Marudi is a town in the north of Sarawak which borders the state of Sabah in Malaysia and the small country of Brunei. Marudi is the cultural heart of Sarawak’s highland tribesfolk, collectively called Orang Ulu.Marudi, a riverine town about 100km upriver from Kuala Baram, is the largest town in the sparsely-populated Baram district. It is also the district administrative headquarters and has been since the days of the White Rajahs.

Marudi used to be a stepping stone to the well known tourist destinations, the Mulu Cave and Mulu National Park.

 

How to get there?

Daily express boats from Miri to Marudi (2.5 hours, RM20 one way)

By car one hour trip (from Miri) – 54 km

MASwings Twin Otter from Miri – 15-20 minutes (RM100 return ticket)

  1. Saya pernah berada di Marudi dari 1988 hingga 1991, berbagai kenangan semasa di situ dan ramai kenalan tetapi sekarang terputus hubungan..insya allah ada masa akan melawat marudi

  2. Sayang, ada banyak lagi yang you belum mengetahui tentang Marudi atau Baram amnya. Lebih-lebih lagi penduduk Baram yang begitu diverse. Misalnya, cerita rakyat, kaum etnik yang berbilang tutur bahasa dan lain-lain.

  3. Thank you for the wonderful photoes. I was there many moons ago (1975-1977 at Chung Hwa Primary).

    Semoga dapat ngembak nemiak balit ke sia 1 hari kelak…. Dolok masa kecik pernah nait bot ya ke Miri. I remember the river as the widest ever where the boats, ferries all can easily U turn (sik payah 3 point turn bah).

  4. encik zainal baharom nie bekas cikgu kat smk marudi ke???? or lebih detail lagi ustaz…………tapi kalu salah org mintak maap….marudi for me just like smallville and it is a healthy town coz no junk food restaurant…hehe but the cendol and rojak is the best….cannot wait for the road to be completed and drive back bring wife kids for holiday tangkap udang galah marudi (So sweet and clean)

      • alhamdullillah.. ustaz zainal…saya bekas student ustaz masa kat smk marudi 1989-90-91…macam mana nak contact….memang lama dah tak jumpa balik bekas cikgu cikgu dari smk marudi nie…
